I really love the idea of a 21:9 display, and was sold after watching reviews on LinusTechTips.

I've been obsessing over finding the BEST 34" ultra-wide option over the past few weeks as I've never dropped anywhere near $800 on a monitor. This is basically exactly what I came to r/monitors to find help with.

Granted yes, I wont be gaming a lot, but if I watch a movie I'd really like to not be disgusted by horrendous light bleeding. I figured the LG 34 inch non curved would be a great bet, but the reviews are a hit or miss.

These monitors are over a year old, there must be something newer out that is proven. Is there something new and upcoming that I should be aware and not pull the trigger yet? (apple 4k-5k monitor etc). Should I be looking at the LG 34UM95-P(Is the light bleed still really that bad or did that fix that issue in newer revisions?, CURVED, IPS OR NOT), U3415W(IPS OR NOT) or, Samsng(S34E790C) The U3011 was honestly a great monitor - used display port to thunderbolt for my mac - but it didn't have that glossy screen look that apple monitors have that really make it a pleasure to view.
